Ideas and updates
As promised last week, our quantum tech data and advisory company, Interference Advisors has released the Interim Report on Global Investments 2020 (as of Nov 15th) into QIS ventures 👇
Here are the major highlights:
😀 Record investments globally into #quantum#tech for 2020.
🤔 Overall, deal count and average deal size is trending upwards. We see fewer grants and seed rounds, with a lot more A and B round raises. #venturecapital is getting professional.
😀 #QuantumComputing HW & SW takes the bulk of the money. If you separate algorithm focused ventures out they take the top spot, which is important for our overall success.
😢 Top sources of capital are the USA, Japan, Europe, and the UK, with Israel rising fast. More depth and diversity needed.
🤔 Top targets of capital are the USA, China, UK, Finland, and Israel as runner up. Europe lacking due to fewer, mature startups.
We also have a breakdown of investments made by industry and more available.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Quantum computer race intensifies as alternative technology gains steam. Trapped-ion systems are gaining momentum in the quest to make a commercial quantum computer. A beautiful article that forgot to respect history and I agree with nick farina 💘 on Twitter who says: "disagree somewhat with framing of ion traps as an “alternative” qubit tech. have been a well understood, serious candidate for QC since 1995….and Ivan Deutsch did a great presentation on Quantum Computing with Neutral Atoms here and touched on this subject briefly (at 3:55 approximately).
