Quantum Things
Quantum Tech is hot and looking back at 2020 so far we have seen large investments pouring in across the different sub-categories with hardware of cause taking a large piece of the pie. Considering that some predicted a quantum winter that has been a happy surprise. So what does this mean for you? Get on with your work, be the best you can be, follow the lean startup approach shared this week on our weekly call.
Building a business can be hard especially in quantum where in most cases you need to sell a vision and story. I came across two articles this week that reflect challenges faced by one startup in Asia and another one in Africa. Granted the company in Africa isn’t in quantum tech but all the same, the lessons are priceless.

Besides the Lean Startup methodology we also took a look at our member LinkedIn profile and how to optimize them for sales - here are some of our tips and best practices.
Our Women in Quantum Summit is around the corner and we are grateful to our sponsors and women leaders for making this happen. Take a look at the agenda.
Quantum Tech investments for H1 2020 broke all records. Our analysis shows approximately equal investment in Q1 and Q2 allaying the fears of a quantum winter.
Another of the many exciting things that we are learning is on the emerging sources of capital. Israel and India are becoming serious providers of cash. And Europe is stealing the show from the USA as the new quantum leader.
Optimists build quantum computers and pessimists are worried about the post-quantum era. The world is a better place because of both. Congratulations to Ali El Kaafarani and his team for raising $7m in seed capital to work on post-quantum cryptography.
The Chinese stock market had the strongest five-day performance in more than five years last week with QuantumCTek making history. QKD is on fire.
Color centers in diamonds are close to my heart. Disclaimer: They earned me my only master’s qualification and my first publication. Beyond that, NV centers, as we call them, may play an important role in future quantum computing hardware. A team at MIT builds a 128-qubit hybrid quantum system through the integration of photonic circuitry and “quantum micro chiplets” containing multiple diamond-based qubits.
Signing off
We don't know about you, but we feel so happy to have this community up and running. Yes, these are unprecedented times for the world but remember the saying, ‘Never waste a crisis.’ Keep focused.
